Adipurush: Director Om Raut Clarifies Saif Ali Khan’s Look As Ravan, ‘We Have Shown What Ravan Looks Like In Today's Time’
Adipurush has been decorating the headlines ever since the launch of the teaser. The film has been on the receiving end of criticism. The audience has trolled the makers owing to its visual effects and CGI. Some of them even called it ‘cartoonish’. The film has also been facing outrage from the fans for the look of the characters, especially Saif Ali Khan. Om Raut in an interview opened up about the look of Saif Ali Khan as Ravana.

While speaking with Aaj Tak, Om Raut, the director of the film said that Saif Ali Khan’s look as Ravana is inspired by today's monsters and villains. He was quoted saying, “Our Ravan in today's time is demonic, he is cruel. The one who has abducted our Goddess Sita is cruel. We have shown what Ravan looks like in today's time. This is not a film or a project for us. This is a mission for us. Our film is a symbol of our devotion and we need everyone's blessings for this. Whosoever is speaking about the film are our elders. I am listening to all of them and taking note of everything. When you will watch the film in January 2023, I will not disappoint anyone.”

Meanwhile, Saif’s look as Ravana in the film has become the topic of debate and discussion online. Some of the users said Khan looks more like Taimur and Khilji rather than Ravana. As Ravana was never shown with a beard earlier in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan.

The film also received a legal notice from Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha for the ‘Islamisation' of Ramayana.

Adipurush is the most anticipated pan-India film which is scheduled to release on January 12, 2023, based on the epic Ramayana. The stellar cast includes south superstar Prabhas as Raghav (Lord Rama), Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon as Janki (Maa Sita), Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan as Lamkesh (Ravana), and Bollywood actor Sunny Singh as Lakshman. The film will release in cinema halls in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada in IMax and 3D.
